Science
Science is committed to ensuring that students develop an interest in the various fields of science, explore and ask questions, and speculate on the changing world in which they live.
A general view of the multidisciplinary fields of Science is provided to lower school students, including a solid foundation of the Biological, Chemical, Physical, Earth and Space sciences. All students are provided with an understanding of the nature of scientific inquiry and the ability to use a range of methods, such as questioning; planning and conducting experiments and investigations; collecting and analysing data; evaluating results; and drawing critical, evidence-based conclusions.
Learning occurs both in and out of the classroom; students are given the opportunity to attend excursions, incursions and encouraged to participate in various competitions. The skills that are developed will assist them as they continue learn in senior school. The dynamic nature of education assisted by the advent of rapid technological communication and easily accessible knowledge provides all students at Butler College an opportunity to succeed in Science.
